HD-SDI Security Cameras | MegaPixel Video over Coax Cable

Analog video security systems have been the workhorse of the video surveillance world since the 1970s. They are easy to install, easy to use, and are cost efficient. But industry standard analog cameras have one huge limitation – resolution is limited to VGA. Even so, installers and end users have been reluctant to upgrade to an IP/Network system to get high definition video. Why? It might be because of the complexity of networking systems. Or it could be the hassle and cost of re-cabling all your cameras from coax to Ethernet.

Along comes Serial Digital Interface (SDI), a standard from the TV industry. SDI security camera systems offer beautiful, detailed, high-definition video without the complexity or cost of an IP/Network system. They use the same coax cable as analog systems so a conversion is feasible for most existing surveillance systems.

Upgrading from Analog is Super Easy
Just plug-in new cameras and a hybrid DVR

Swap Analog with SDI    Coax Cable

Keep the existing coax cable connection to the cameras. In fact, keep as many VGA cameras as you want. In some locations, VGA is all the resolution you need. In locations where you want more image detail and the ability to digitally zoom in, like cash registers, doorways, gas pumps, etc., simply swap out the old analog cameras for new HD-SDI cameras. BNC connectors make it easy.

At the DVR, you’ll need to swap out your old analog DVR for a new hybrid analog + SDI DVR. Again, BNC connectors make it “plug and play” easy.

HD-SDI from eLine

eLine, a manufacturer of electronic technology and video systems has introduced a new line of HD-SDI camera systems for 2012. Pictured above, three new cameras boast 2.1 MegaPixel resolutions and the full-featured LRT Series DVR now offers a hybrid analog + HD-SDI model. More information about HD-SDI security camera systems can be found on the eLine website at http://elinetechnology.com.

“HD-SDI brings megapixel quality images to both retrofits as well as installers not wanting to bother with the complexity of IP Based cameras” says Mike Davis, president of eLine. “The hybrid analog/SDI recorders are a great compromise, enabling installers to keep costs down, provide an excellent system and even offer HD video (2MP) on the most important cameras to the customer.”
