The Stanley Black and Decker family of electro-mechanical locks (including the brands Kwikset and Baldwin) now feature wireless connectivity using Z-Wave.
Z-Wave enables the door lock to wirelessly communicate with other devices in the home such as 2GIG’s Go!Control Wireless Alarm. Working in conjunction, the following features can be activated:
- Locks doors when security system is armed
- Disarms security system when door is unlocked (and optionally sets other Smart Home functions such as lighting and music)
- Communicates door lock status
All of the deadbolts and leversets are battery powered and feature a plug-in daughter card in the rear of the lock so that the locks are easily interchangeable between Zigbee and Z-Wave protocols for maximum flexibility. The locks also feature “Smart Key” technology so that homeowners can personally rekey their deadbolt in less than 30 seconds to match any existing Kwikset locks they may already have installed, eliminating the need for a professional locksmith rekey to maintain a single key solution for the home.
Other Home Connect features of the locks include:
- Lock or unlock doors with your remote, smart phone, or computer
- Check lock status remotely
- Receive a text message or video when someone unlocks the door (such as a child getting home from school)
- Remotely add or delete access codes
